Take Back Control of Your Closet
A cluttered closet is a cluttered mind. The velvet hanger method, the closet cull, and the three-box system that will transform your mornings, starting this weekend.
Take Back Control of Your Closet
Closet full of clothes. Nothing to wear. Sound familiar?
That is not a shopping problem. That is a clarity problem. And it is costing you more than you know, not just time in the morning, but confidence, focus, and the version of yourself you are called to show up as every single day.
A cluttered closet is a cluttered mind, my friend.
I have been teaching women to take back their mornings, their mirrors, and their lives for nearly 40 years. This is where we start. Right here. The closet.
Why Does My Closet Make Me Feel So Bad Every Morning?
Because your closet is not neutral. It is either working for you or working against you.
Your clothes contain feelings. They contain money. They contain memories. And when every morning you open that door and see the chaos, you absorb it. Before you have said a word or drunk your coffee, your confidence is already taking a hit.
The Closet Cull takes the power and the control back out of the cluttered closet that feels like an overwhelming machine and puts the power back in your hands. It makes your get-up, dress-up routine beautiful, predictable, simple, with no stressing about dressing. You walk out your front door looking beautiful, feeling confident, and getting better results in your day.
That is not a luxury. That is strategy.
What Is a Closet Cull and How Is It Different From a Purge?
A closet cull is ruthless, intentional, and done right the first time. A purge is what you have been doing for years, and it clearly is not working.
This is not a closet purge. This is not an overhaul. This is a closet cull. That means we are going to be ruthless. That means I am going to help you take back the power from your closet that is currently the monster over your mornings, and put it back in your hands with a very intentional, powerful, life-changing assignment called The Closet Pile.
I do one major closet cull in a year. And about halfway through the year, I do a mini cull. That is it. Two culls. Done with intention. You should not be living in a cycle of constant purging. If you are, you did not do it right the first time. And I am going to help you do it right. Find out exactly what the process looks like in my full guide on what a closet cull actually is.
What Should I Keep and What Should I Get Rid Of?
Start with this question: does this item serve the woman I am right now, today?
Not the woman you were three years ago. Not the woman you are "waiting to become" after you lose the weight. Right now.
"What if" is holding you back. "What if" has produced a cluttered closet, which produces a cluttered mind. And then you open your closet and say, "I have nothing to wear."
If there are things where you say, "but I am getting fitter," then if there are three or four items, I give you maximum five. You are allowed five items that you are on it, you have the results already, you are getting fit, you are getting healthier. Not "I'm going to start." You are on track already. You get to keep those five items.
Everything else goes.
Otherwise, it is just a reminder that this has not fit you for seven years. Do not make yourself feel bad. You can love your body. You can love it where it is at. Whatever shape or weight you are right now, that is where you start. You love your body right there.
This is not about shrinking yourself to fit your wardrobe. It is about building a wardrobe that fits the woman you already are.
How Do I organize My Closet So It Actually Stays Organized?
Two words: item and color.
All I do is organize by item and by color. Roughly by item and by color. That is the foundation.
It is about what hangers you are using, space utilization, item and color organization. When you open your closet in the morning and it is beautiful and it is organized and it is peaceful, it is like this wonderful start to your day.
Two small but significant investments I made into my wardrobe were hot pink, velvet hangers (nothing falls off and the color inspires me). And a 20-pair shoe organizer that kept my shoes neat, tidy, and easy to see and access. I also printed and laminated one of my favorite scriptures, "Arise and shine, for the glory of the Lord is upon you" (Isaiah 60:1), and when I saw it, it instantly lifted my game.
Your closet should feel like a gift, not a punishment. If it does not, we have work to do.
I sort my beautiful jewelry into three categories: silver, gold, and multicolored. So everything from earrings to necklaces to bracelets, rings, little ankle chain if you like those. I have them in three categories. Simple. Scannable. Done in minutes.

How Do I Start When I Feel Completely Overwhelmed?
You start with one decision. Not the whole closet. One decision.
This is not a place for any perfect, polished presentations. Perfection has no place here.
Ditch the idea that things are going to be perfect. There is too much of this still going on. I do not have a perfect closet. Yet I am a confidence coach who teaches the power of personal style.
Because style is simple. It is a skill, not a talent. And the moment you stop waiting for perfection and start working with what you have, everything changes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions women ask about this
How do I stop feeling overwhelmed by a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear?
Your clothes contain feelings, money, and memories, and that is exactly why the overwhelm is real. Start by organizing everything into seven categories: tops, pants, dresses and skirts, jackets and coats, shoes, bags, and accessories. Once you have that structure, the chaos becomes a system you can actually work with.
What is a capsule wardrobe and how many pieces do I actually need?
A capsule wardrobe is a 10-step recipe strategically focused on 30 essential, versatile items that mix and match easily to create multiple different outfits. About 85 to 90 percent of women do not know what a capsule wardrobe is or how it works, most assume it is a minimalist set of 15 to 20 pieces. It is not minimalism. It is variety, versatility, and flexibility built on a blueprint.
How do I know what clothes to keep and what to get rid of when decluttering my closet?
Most women wear only 15 to 20 percent of what is hanging in their closet, so the question is not what to remove, it is what earns its place. Your clothes have a job to do, and your closet must be a step ahead of you because you have to dress today for what you want tomorrow. Anything that does not serve where you are going comes out.
How do I dress for my body shape after 50 when my body has changed?
Personal style is about shape, not size, emphasize your shoulders, waist, thighs, and calves according to your specific body shape. There are five body shapes, and once you know yours, getting dressed becomes a skill, not a guessing game. You only need to switch up 20 percent of your pieces to move from one occasion to the next, and you can be modern and modest at the same time.
What is the fastest way to organize my wardrobe so getting dressed takes less time every morning?
Organize by item and by color, roughly by item first, then by color within each category. The goal is to build your wardrobe like a blueprint for a dream home, implementing the 80-20 system: 20 percent of your effort every morning produces 80 percent of your result all day. Investing in your wardrobe is not fun fashion money, it is actually a powerful investment into your personal well-being and your professional success.
